Roboform Pro Review

Good

Running Form/password software business for over a decade. Excellent form-filler. Store bookmarks & contacts too.

Bad

Difficult to locate passwords & improve security. Limited importing options. USB portable option is standalone app. Software not updated often.

Overall

Roboform has many long-standing customers for good reason. Depends how you use it as to whether it is right for you.

RoboForm has been around in one form or another for more than a decade. It was original a form filling app, but expanded gradually into password retention, browser favorites saving, note taking, and more.

The software comes in three flavors: Free, Desktop and Everywhere. There is also a USB option known as RoboForm2Go. There are Windows, Mac and Linux software versions, as well as mobile apps for iOS, Android and Blackberry.

Installation & Access

The installation usually happens through the web browser with an add-on or extension, then when each site is accessed, RoboForm will ask if you wish to save the login information for future use. Passwords from only two other managers - LastPass and KeePass - can be imported.

There is also the option to use the Windows Biometric Framework fingerprint reader or a UPEK fingerprint reader to scan your fingerprint and use that as the unique identifier instead of a master password.

Free Version & Limitations

The Free version offers access to their cloud-based password saving, form filling and password logging-in services. There are also mobile apps for use on various platforms. The catch with the free version is that you can only access up to 10 web sites. By comparison, LastPass, another password manager, lets you store as many sites as you wish with their free version.

Versions

RoboForm Everywhere, is the natural extension of the Free version. The low yearly fee covers an unlimited number of logins, unlimited bookmarks, form filling from personal information stored and access to the mobile apps.

RoboForm Desktop is software designed for a single PC or Mac. Passwords, bookmarks, safenotes and more are all stored locally rather than online in the cloud. This may appeal to users who are more security conscious.

The RoboForm2Go is a portable version of the password manager. Store your passwords, bookmarks and more, securely with AES encryption, and carry it around with you on a USB drive. Carry your personal data with you and keep your passwords safe in internet cafes too.

Safenotes Feature

SafeNotes is also a handy feature. With this option you can store notes in a secure password-protected manner. Less comprehensive than Evernote, but easily accessible cross-platform when you need it. Helpful for quick notes.
